Violence against Women and Girls

The course aims to reduce the harms caused by perpetrators of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG)and ensure a consistent standard of support across Rochdale for those subjected to VAWG by improving the knowledge, understanding and skills of the workforce.

Learning Outcomes:

• By the end of the training the learner will:
• Know the definition of VAWG, the different types of VAWG and UK and global prevalence
• Understand that VAWG is both a cause and a consequence of gender inequality
• Know the ‘Pyramid of Misogynistic Hate’ and understand the ways in which commonly held misogynistic attitudes and beliefs uphold and form the basis for more extreme acts of VAWG
• Develop personal and professional strategies to challenge sexist language, attitudes and behaviour that contribute to VAWG
